How could anyone ever try and ruin someone for doing the RIGHT thing?

Peyton/Mrs. Mott knew that her husband had sexually assaulted other women and cheated on her during the time she was pregnant, and she decides to ruin the woman who took a stand for this and help other women? Her husband was a scumbag, and she had to have known it at least after the cases were made public.
It's sad that some people sympathize with her, even though her loss was tragic, she could have released she was as much as a victim as these other women when he killed himself.

the short answer to your question is that she was nuts. she surely had mental problems long before this. this whole thing just sent he off the rails.

This movie or post has noting do do with politics or left vs right! gosh so sad how people are so obsessed these days , and bring it into movies and things that have absolutely nothing to do with politics at all.

Payton was probably already a psycho just like her husband was... that's probably why they were married ! at least that's what I always assumed!
I mean its also possible she was just in denial that her husband sexually assaulted Claire and those other women , and thought they made it up I suppose and she wanted revenge.
But my guess she was always a nutcase and this situation just brought it out more and pushed her over the edge!

I agree with you. I think Peyton was already nuts, possibly even knew what her husband had been doing. But she had a rich lifestyle, so she stayed to keep that lifestyle.
She saw Claire as the one who brought it down, and didn't care about the grisly details.

I have to disagree with that, I think Peyton knew how her husband was and was already a Psycho as well- this just escalated it more. She had no "right" to do what she did.
