Asthma Inhaler

Just watching the movie for the first time since it came out and am really enjoying it.

The one thing that is bugging me though is when Claire uses her inhaler she doesn’t put it in her mouth but just waves it in front! Now I’m not asthmatic but that seems pretty pointless to me!

Yes that was annoying. I mean, they could have given her an empty inhaler or something to make even the slight attempt at making it look realistic. And the fake wheezing sound which didn't match up with the character's physical breathing.

It depends on the user. If you hold it in front of your mouth and dispense as you inhale, it feels like it is all going down your trachea. If you put it into your mouth and suck as you dispense, it tends to spray on the roof of your mouth or tongue if you don't aim it right down the hatch.
I've always put it in my mouth, and never tried it the way you described it (I haven't seen this movie in 32 years and didn't need an inhaler at the time) but I might start doing it that way from now on.
