Cosmos' Pop Version of Mothra's Song

Mothra's twin priestesses in this film is called the Cosmos, which is also the name of their singing duo in Japanese pop culture. Crescendo Records' "The Best of Godzilla 1984-1995" CD contains the Mothra Song, in pop version, being sung by the Cosmos. The CD never indicated that the song was a special track by the Cosmos-it indicated that the song was originally part of this movie, which was scored by composer Akira Ifukube. Since this pop version doesn't appear in the movie, is the background music for the song originally by the Cosmos, or did Akira Ifukube actually compose it (which I doubt, but I'd thought I ask and get your inputs)?

That is interesting that the pop version of Mothra's Song doesn't exist in this film's original film soundtrack. In the movie, the Cosmos only sing a short verse of the song, and not the entire pop version. Akira Ifukube once stated he didn't like pop music, that's why I doubt he actually composed the background music to the song. But, the pop version sure rocks; love listening to it. You have the pop version on CD too right?

Hehe, cool. It's neat that you have the whole soundtrack collection of the Godzilla series. I mainly collect the "Best of..." collections, including a collaboration of Akira Ifukube marches and his 50th Anniversary Toho Movie Music File, which is my favorite. I also have Nippon Columbia's "Best of Mothra" CD. That CD has 4 pop versions of Mothra's Song, including the Cosmos' version. For the pop versions, I still like the Cosmos the best. For Mothra's Song as a whole, the original one sang by the Peanuts tops.
