Two Things Could Have Made This Better

One, if he hooked up with Jamie Lee Curtis, or Two, if he time-traveled back in time to meet his love.

The ending, that he meets up with her as an old guy is dumb for two reasons: one, they aren't "young" anymore, like the title suggests and two, Mel's character was obviously on the verge of death.

Uh, no he wouldn't.
He would have been a GRANDdaddy to little Elijah

How or why would he time travel? That makes no sense.

I totally disagree. His true love was out there and it wasn't Jamie Lee Curtis's character and the movie wasn't really about time travel. He didn't have a time machine. It was supposed to be fairly realistic and traveling back in time would have changed the movie completely. I think it's virtually perfect the way it is.

Oh and the title Forever Young is not to be taken literally. They are both "forever young" in their hearts because they pick up exactly where they left off decades ago.

Tomorrow's just your future yesterday!

Daniel wasn't about to die, he just aged all the way to his appropriate age in a faster amount of time. I believe he mentions he was born in 1906 so he's 86 when the movie ends.
