I haven't bought it on DVD since I was waiting for the same thing. However, I may just have to purchase it since I don't believe a widescreen version will happen.

According to ezydvd, the Australian DVD (Region 4) is 2-sided with Standard & Widescreen... They're out of stock though, lol. So, maybe try ebay to get the Region 4... https://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/269

I've since bought the Australian DVD and it's great! Bluray would make it look even better though :)

I know that this is an old post, but it's what I came to this board to find. NO KIDDING, who do I have to sleep with to get them to put out a widescreen version of this movie?? COME ON!!!

IMDB states that this movie was shot in a 1.37:1 negative aspect ratio. The movie was then cropped vertically to fit 1.85:1 theatrical screens. In other words, the current DVD displays no less image horizontally and even a little more image vertically. Of course, I'm all for a Blu-ray 1.85:1 remaster of loads of movies, including this one.

It's showing on Comcast Preferred in HD, widescreen! First time I've seen it in the widescreen format since I saw it in theaters...looks beautiful.

its 2014 bro. dvd's are like vhs and betamax nowadays. 1080p is standard with 4k on the doorstep. get with the times. j/k im not that uptight:)
