A lot alike as in Avatar was partly ripped from ferngully? :D

So stories can't be retold? Is that what you're saying? If so, you're a freakin moron.

reply

Sure they can. You just have to pay royalties to the original story teller. James Cameron didn't. :P

Yogi, in Avatar the character Parker Selfridge said something along the lines of "you can't throw a stick around here without hitting a sacred FERN for christ sake."
Ferngully was acknowledged in Avatar you dumbass. You pointed out something James Cameron blatantly acknowledged in his script.

reply

Oh so if a movie acknowledges the movie it's ripping off it makes it ok? wow who's the dumbass? you make no sense stop posting on imdb

Kill whoever stands in thy way... even if that be Lord God, or Buddha himself.

Ferngully + Dances With Wolves = Avatar.

All show, no go.

I hardly think referencing a type of foliage is an exact reference to FernGully. If the director or writers said blatantly said that they used FernGullys story or the writers of FernGully had a credit in the film yeah then it would be an acknowledgment haha.

I'm just saying that when I watch movies, I watch movies. I don't analyze the script or dissect stuff. But the first time I heard the character say "sacred fern" I immediately thought of Fern Gully. James Cameron wrote the script there is no way in hell he would have accidentally put it in there. I've never met the man, but he seems like an absolute perfectionism to the last detail of everything in his films. Do you really think he blanked out and didn't realize what he wrote when an average viewer like myself immediately thought of it?

reply

LOL- I kept saying that too when the movie came out. Amazing that NO ONE I knew had ever heard of Fern Gully. I have the video tape! I finally googled it so people would know I wasn't making it up. But, you know what they say - there is nothing new under the sun. (oops, better give proper credit to Shakespeare)
