I've known this song ever since i was like three or four years old!!! And I know the tune and I know what the lyrics are saying... But this is the first time I've actually seen them written and, to be honest... if I didn't know the song and the whole clip, I would've said it's the most disgusting song I've ever heard of... I guess that's what most people think when they read them without seeing the movie before!!!

Just a thought...

I just bought the new special edition version of FernGully, and it skips the lyrics, and jumps from:

I see the world and all the creatures in it
I suck 'em dry, and spit 'em out like spinach.

directly to

'Cause greedy human beings
Will always lend a hand....

I guess the film version is a condensed version of the lyrics posted, cause I never heard anything about those other lyrics mentioned between those phrases.

You are so right. I have this collection of villian songs and I was trying to think of songs I could put in it. So I just typed in "Tim Curry". Then I listened to this song and I was like "special kind of horny?!Puke cocktail?!?!?" Ugh. And the way Curry does his voice, it's just so... slimy. >.<

These are not the lyrics that were released in the movie.
I own the movie in it's first release VHS edition...and while those may be the true lyrics as written and origionally recorded they are not the ones the made the cut to film.

Oh my gosh, I pictured Frank-N-Furter singing it too! That's what Tim Curry will always be for me, I suppose... Not that that's a bad thing! I absolutely looooove his voice.

But here's something that I haven't seen anyone address on this forum (and I'm quite surprised it hasn't already): there are similarities in the delivery of some lines in "Toxic Love" and "Sweet Transvestite", especially the last line of the chorus in "ST"--"...from transexual Transylvania ah ah ah." I was listening to "ST" recently and heard it. So I think that there was some purposeful homage to RHPS.

Maybe they meant it as the other definition:

yea wen i saw the movie wen i was like 7, it skips all those lines...
it just jumps from:

Lol, in the version I have it DEFINITELY skipped that line. But even without the horny line the song is still pretty suggestive.

What version do you have that skips the line? I have the original uncut version of Toxic Love that is in the soundtrack album (the soundtrack album also has the original version of Batty Rap [that Robin Williams song] that includes more disturbing references to animal testing than what the movie had).

But even without the horny line the song is still pretty suggestive.

And that comes from the combination of the guitar rock-meets-burlesque music style and Tim Curry's singing, but mostly it's the latter moreso than the former.

I have the version that was in the movie. My friend made me a mix cd and that's the version that was on it. I've looked for the soundtrack but so far I haven't found it. (for a reasonable price, that is)
