I just got a book about the movie, called "Far and Away: the Illustrated Story of a Journey from Ireland to America in the 1890s"...Ron Howard wrote it...it has tons of info. and pics. about making the movie as well as historical info. about the immigrants from Ireland.
it has alot of exerpts from the scripts,song lyrics, quotes from the actors, behind the scenes info. etc.
I didn't know that after the helicopter shot the opening scene of the ocean, it crashed...the 2 man-crew was ok, but had to be hospitalized.

Just thought I'd reply that there is a book that the movie is based on, or vice versa. I'd have to say I loved the book and the movie. One of the few times that I actually liked both.
