I liked this movie

This is coming from a Brit who wasn't required to watch this for a history lesson and couldn't care less about Cruise's private life and scientology. I thought this movie was one of the better ones of the early 90s. Not brilliant, but good. At the time i happened to be studying a host of subjects about American history, and this movie seemed to have fit right in. I was reading Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men for English, and studying about the American west for history. Ok, a lot in this movie was far from realistic, like Cruise being a boxing champ among other things, but who didn't like that portrayal of the Oklahoma land run at the end? The onscreen chemistry between the rich girl and and poor boy in this movie also puts the one in Titanic to shame. Titanic was just big and exciting typical of high-budget movies, but everything else was quite cliched and dull...
