I'm not irish so I guess I'm not an authority on the subject, but I kept hearing Tom slip into American which was distracting.
sharethey were both crap. there is not just one accent. in ireland we have many as with england, but hollywood does the stereotypical Paddy accent or upper class brit.

I'm not from Ireland, but I did read that given the time period and the differing classes of the two main characters Cruises was more accurate then Kidman's was. Apparently Cruises was correct for the class and time period, but Kidman's was not and Kidman's sounds better because that is closer to the accent most people are used to hearing these days.

Come to Ireland and you'll hear it for yourself. The accents don't change over time. There are many accents in Ireland.
