Let's see... stabbed in the leg with a filthy pitchfork

When Shannon stabbed Joseph in the right leg with a filthy, horse-dung shoveling pitchfork, right about where his femoral artery was, that's the point at which I started losing interest. When Joseph was on an ocean liner a few days later with no gangrene or even a fever, that was when my suspension of disbelieve took a hike. I shut the movie off and started reading a good book instead.

If something like that happened in this day and age, assuming that the victim didn't bleed out in a few seconds, he would at least find himself in an emergency room and intensive care on massive amounts of antibiotics, praying that he would keep his leg.

But it was a movie and not real life. Some times you just have to forget about little details like that and enjoy the rest of the ride. And if you just can't do that, the movie was hardly your cup of tea anyway. Most of the viewers probably never thought that much about the pitchfork incident, and how it would have affected Joseph in real life. I know I didn't.

Intelligence and purity.

Yes, you're not going to see Tom Cruise get tetanus in a movie, in the same way that he never manages to lose any teeth or break his nose in the bare-knuckle fights.🐭
