I'm not your guy, friend!

reply

I'm not your friend, buddy!!!

Dude is still a part of my vocab, and "hella," I-should-be-embarrassed-to-say-that-but-I'm-not. Because it's hella cool...and rad.

"Zombies, man. They creep me out."

reply

My friends still use a lot of it, but then again. we're all Wayne's World fanatics...

reply

I miss the 90's. I hope they invent time travel soon.

reply

owww buuuudy. I need some grindage.

reply

In the early 90's I spoke Russian, therefore no, we did not all talk that way (in english).

reply

In the early '90s I was fluent in baby-talk, also I was fluent in Schwarzenegger.

reply

Everybody thinks they can do valley slang. But Pauly Shore turned it into an art form.

reply

the 90s were totally jive man...

reply

That isnt an exageration. I was born in '86, so I was pretty young when he was in his prime, and havent seen this movie in forever, but I turned it on today for a few min and was shocked at how effing hilarious he was just in one or so scenes. I guess there's a few others who seem time-stamped to an era which is now looked down upon, but if you're not uptight, you can really watch him weirding out and get some laughs

I'm in my very-late 20's and the 90's were my "teen decade". The only slang I used then was "as if" (which Dave's sister does use in this movie), Dude and whatever (made MOST popular by the movie "Clueless" (FYI, I attended high school in Southern Jersey, and our school was a carbon copy of Cher and Ty's school.....) I still use "Dude" to this day...as in "Not cool, dude" or "dude, you're awesome". And, I'm female, by the way. Just figured I'd out my two cents in there. Loved this movie, actually. Has a lot to do with Brendan Fraser.... I think he's one of the most versatile and talented actors in Hollywood today, and I think he played this role very well. (And, yes, he is gorgeous! He and my boyfriend have the same brow and eyes, something I hadn't noticed at first, but, just about DIED when I realized....)

Stop the world and let me off!

This feels like an 80's movie. It's a guilty pleasure.

reply

I still use DUDE quite a lot

Lets put a SMILE on that face!

reply

Me too! The whole vibe of this film is 80s and I love it!

On topic, in the 90s, I lived in the western US, but not California, and so we didn't speak that way. "Dude" and "aw c'mon man" a lot, but nothing like what Pauly was doing here. That was seriously artform linguistics.

reply

I have to admit that I probably did use the word "dude" a lot back than, but that's probably the only one out of the words you listed.
