I don't want to sound mean or anything but I don't mind it at all.
shareI don't mind either... I guess I was OK with Natalie but now I hope they'll cast someone better suited to the role, preferably a British actress.
FYI, it was also discussed in a few other threads on this board.

Ok...so lots of ppl would probably disagree with me....but I think Portman is ove rated.....I'm Americn but still, I really hope they cast a British actress...theres so much talent in England thats completley under the radar here....
sharein my opinion: natalie portman is such an amazing actress, i have not seen one movie in which i was not fully convinced that she infact WAS the character she was playing.
so naturally, i am so so dissapointed because i am certain she would have embodied cathy so well...
I guess the key-role here is not Catherine, but precisely Heathcliff - and his casting is crucial to the film.
I can't quite figure out who'd make a good Heathcliff...as far as I'm concerned (having read the book as often as I have) Ralph Fiennes didn't play Heathcliff, he WAS Heathcliff. it was a perfect performance, totally.
Heathcliff's features are primrarily inscrutable, hard eyes, who'd fit to that? my first thought was Colin Farrell, but more due to his dark features. I'm not sure if he carried the grandeur and savageness of Heathcliff...maybe he'd make a better Hareton? he's got sth mild in his eyes
anyway, any ideas as to the casting of the new Heathcliff?
Michael Fassbender has already been cast as Heathcliff.
I'm not very familiar with his work, but from what I've seen, I guess he has the potential to be good in the role.
