Any idea what happens in the scene where Catherine (the daughter) is creating a garden against the wishes of Heathcliff near the end of the movie? Does he strike her since Hareton is not nearby to defend her? Or does he confuse her with Cathy and try something inappropriate? The next scene in the movie shows Catherine angry and sullen in the evening at home. I feel like something has happened between Catherine and Heathcliff, but it isn't clear from watching the movie. Ideas?

If memory serves (and it's been awhile since I read the book so I could be wrong) both Catherine and Hareton worked on the garden and Heathcliff DID confront them both in his normal abrasive manner, and I seem to recall him making threats.

he started seeing cathy so when he sees catherine in that ruin he used to go to with cathy he thinks he's seeing her
