... bugs me so much, I keep thinking of Mel Gibson from "BraveHeart." I can understand why Heathcliff would have long hair at the beginning, but why not cut it off when he becomes a rich "gentleman"? He looks ridiculous. Did Heathcliff have long hair in the novel?

Come to think of it, I'm not crazy about a lot of the hairstyles in this movie; they look like they're a part of a fabraicated haunted house. Perhaps, since this is a dark tale, the makers wanted the appearances of the characters to match?...

You know, though, I always did imagine Cathy's hair as a wild rat's nest when reading the book. She seems so careless, so willful, such a wild girl that it is how I always imagined her pre-Linton.

It was such 80's hair. Yuck. Binoche is usually so beautiful but not in this movie.

I know people back then weren't as hygenic as we are today but the greasy hair and oily/sweaty face bugged me too. Fiennes doesn't look good with long hair.

I loved Juliette Binoche's hair I thought it looked great in this in fact before I saw the film and read the book I imagined her to look exactly as she does in this film. I like the fact that it is big 80's hair because when the film is set (1700s) it would be Georgian times and they all had big hair back then.

Even Binoche's dresses fit the time era perfectly, some of the other W.H. films tend to dress the characters like in the Regency period (1800s).

I agree, when he had it pulled back it looked alright, but seeing it all long and stringy just made me go "Ugh!" On the other hand, having it much shorter may have been out of place considering the time period- men's fashion was making the change from long to short hair

I agree with you that the hair in this movie is just bad.
