Who do you think is going to make the better Heathcliff and Cathy? If you're confused Tom is playing Heathcliff in an ITV version that's currently being filmed, Michael is Heathcliff in Maybury's film version.
Hard to say at this stage. If it was a BBC production, I'd vote BBC hands down, but ITV's history with adapting the classics has been patchy at best. Just look at their Jane Austen Season. I'm relatively relieved, however, that the movie version has cast actors who aren't too high profile, but have a respectable enough resume to convince me they'll be able to handle themselves. At any rate, I'm relieved that Portman pulled out.
In regards to the ITV version, I read a disturbing rumour on the Bronteana site that Heathcliff was going to kill himself after hearing about Cathy's death which I pray isn't true. Not sure how much validity is in the speculation as the running time seems to suggest otherwise.
^^^ The suicide rumour definitly isn't true. They've cast a Hareton, Cathy Jnr and Linton Heathcliff. I wasn't sure at first, but i'm definitly giving it to the ITV production, having read the film's script, which is not great to put it mildly.
