Perfection in a motion picture

I've read all the comments about the actors and they are all well deserved. But I've noticed in my many viewings that each cell frame is so perfect -- this was an ensemble creation that goes beyond writers, actors, directors -- the technical parts we don't notice because they are so seamless, not calling attention to themselves. The lightning flashes, the sudden rain, the fingernails scratching on a door post, the cinematography, the angles -- if I was a film student I would watch it and take notes. "Oh boy!"

I miss Big Band music and talented singers. Leonard Cohen is my idol. Civility, harmony, unity!

I completely agree, some people assume this is just a special effects movie but I think it has a brilliant script and story, superb funny dialogue and the most perfect cast (Anna the beauty parlor girl with the fake accent). I'm watching it right now and it's in the details where you realize how perfectly made this movie is, the effects go unnoticed or at least they don't distract you from following the dialogue. I could see this movie everyday and it would continue to raise so many questions in my head each time as to HOW movies are made, regardless of effects and stunts.

Zemeckis is often inspired by new visual effects possibilities, but he always integrates them into a good story with compelling characters. He uses long takes with complex camera manoeuvres and edits with fluidity. He’s a true master of the craft and while Spielberg might be the king of set-pieces, Zemeckis is a better storyteller.
