Both omoxus and leesa21855 are out to lunch.
1: The line is "Tom, Dick, Harry," not "Dick, Tim, Heny."
2: I don't see anything funny about the line either way, so omoxus and leesa, why don't you explain to us what you think is so good about the line. I'm betting you can't.
3: The entire script is weak with only a few jokes and I count only two funny ones (Elvis saying "I was just having a little fun" and "Where did you see it last?" "If I knew that it wouldn't be lost." at the very end referring to the can of spray paint). The joke "Tom! Dick! Harry!" barely passes as a joke but I'll admit it's one of the best lines in this movie (which is saying very little).
Well that's your opinion, which you are entitled to unfortunately. I have loved this movie since I was a kid and still do today, watched it 10 minutes ago and still enjoyed it.
But I agree on the completely unfunnyness of the mentioned line. My favorite lines have to be "Ernest..you pushed me down the stairss" (alot of why is the way Meryl Streep says stairs), "But why did it have to happen to meeeee" (Meryl Streep on the being the 'first person in medical history to be this way', again more the way she says it) and of course "NOW a warning!?" (again from Meryl Streep, just after drinking the potion, of course this line's comedy has alot to do with the context".

No offense, but I think you would have to be a kid to really "love" a comedy with such a dearth of good lines.
IMDB lists taglines from each film -- "Death Becomes Her" has exactly ONE, and it isn't even a funny line.
The only comedic elements are the sight gags -- period. Madeline's head being spun the wrong way, Helen walking around with a shotgun hole through her body, both girls breaking into pieces on the steps of the church at the end.
I don't think there's anything funny about it.
It's just a reference to the musical "Kiss me Kate" of Cole Porter.
In the play, the three are in love with the same girl, the same way all three are the boytoys of Liesl.
The line in the film is "Dick, Tom,Harry" A variation of "Tom, Dick and Harry". Unfortunantly the poster isn't aware of that phrase. "...Tom Dick and Harry" mostly stated as "every Tom, Dick and Harry" to express the commonality of something.
It was hilarious to me!

It's dick, Tom and Harry not Tim
Tom, Dick and Harry is how Americans (from the previous generation at least) often refer to a crowd of people. Imagine someone saying 'This is going to be hottest thing since sliced bread. Every Tom, Dick and Harry will want one.' The names are also always said in that order, so part of what makes it funny here is that she says them out of order.
shareYeah we say that in the uk too.
I know it's tom dick and harry, In this order, I was just writing it to explain to the previous poster :)
Who's Tim .
......
I'd like a chance t' shoot at an educated man once in my life .
All of you bashing this movie as completely unfunny, forgive me, have questionable taste in comedy. Sure, there are much funnier and even better written comedies out there, but this movie is a gem.
Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet.
