in american gig, richard gere gets framed and lauren hutton visits him for something he didn't do just like the ending here. I wonder if the ending of american gig inspired the ending for the crying game?

It's possible. The ending of Neil Jordan's earlier film Mona Lisa was influenced by the end of Taxi Driver also written by Paul Schrader. Although the ending of American Gigolo was largely inspired by the French film Pickpocket by Robert Bresson.
