The opening scene in the doll factory...
...was the best part of the movie, Y/N? I thought it was creepy. That's the only reason I bought the CP3 DVD.
Who agrees?

I love it!

i was a bit more disturbed by the whole factory. it was only 8 years.. yet the place looks like it was abandoned for several decades

8 years isnt that long of a time for it to look THAT abandoned. but i do realize they had to make it look trashed.

I love part 2's opening as well. I dont get why it was abandoned though.

While it was eerie it was also implausible. A toy company wouldn't just shut down and abandon a manufacturing facility like that just because the Good Guy line was discontinued, they would retool it and make some other toy there.
If you expect the unexpected doesn't the unexpected then become the expected?

I love the opening scene at the factory too. I love sequels that continue from the previous films, unlike the Leprechaun films.
One thing I always notice though when I watch that opening scene is how the factory (despite the obvious aged, creepy look) isn't even the same. The equipment in there looks like it's from the 70's or whatever. The factory in the 2nd film looked so modern for its time.
The Leprechaun Films are all different Leprechauns. It's not the same guy doing different things. They don't follow the same timeline they all have their own set of rules and maybe even worlds.
shareLooked the same to me.
shareMaybe the police seized the factory and wouldn't let them reopen that particular facility, Chucky did kill several people connected to the place and since Andy was involved Im sure they wanted to investigate after the events of the first 2 movies were all said and done.

Honestly, just thought I'd mention that the factory really seemed like a "willy wonka" factory; meaning something you show the kids, but not what you'd do in real life.
I mean, remember that there was a MASSIVE amount of space between the "assembly mechanisms" which is something you'd never see in a real factory. Additionally the "eye popper" was done at the wrong stage; it'd be far more efficient to have the individual heads be "popped" (or even to "pop" the servo motors to begin with) than to have a small item require a large amount of "room" to be added.
But the factory had that very "Willy Wonka" feel in that they probably had children touring it.
*Just saying.
It was awesome and so were the title credits. Some of the best opening credits i've ever seen for any movie.
shareThe scene's very similar to the 'New Nightmare' opening with someone putting Freddy's claws and hand together and then chopping off his own hand, with VERY similar music backing it. Both released in the early 90's too, I miss horrors of that generation.
shareI miss them too and i agree. Two of the best scenes in horror. I am also a HUGE fan of New Nightmare..
shareI just have 1 question about the opening scene, was the melting of the rubber or plastic whatever made just for 1 doll or several. i thought for several if so wouldn't there be a bunch of chucky clones with his blood being mixed all in there. It was stated that the factory was being reopened so more dolls not just one, and plus wouldn't somebody notice the blood as well.
shareExcellent point. Well. you can look at it this way maybe most of the blood mixed into that batch of plastic Chucky was made from.
2 scenarios i came up with:
1. The doll that got the most blood became chucky. the other ones with traces maybe had some "malfunctions" but was not Chucky.
2. I am leaning towards this one. The one that was first made with Chucky's blood became him (soul) and the others with the blood were like any other doll. After all Chucky only has one soul..
Saw this bad boy on the big screen and the opening looked great and creepy as well. However, I felt that while the events quickly pick up from the previous one, the abandoned toy factory in this film looked different from part 2.
As for the the Good Guy toy factory's abandoned timeframe, 8 years is VERY possible, look at the abandoned New Orleans Six Flags theme park (Katrina wiped it out and flooded the park).....7 years later and the park continues to deteriorate, so yeah, I do believe 8 years from the events of Child's Play 2 to 3 is logical, the obvious sore thumb is the change of factorys used for filming.
The reason why the factory looks so different in this film is because of the cobwebs and the fact that it's daytime and most of the stuff in the factory was not used for over 8 years.
shareAgreed. I thought it was a pretty creative opening scene.
