Every time I watch this I wonder why Anne-Marie left her baby by himself to begin with. It made her look like a bad mother. I'm sure she could have found someone to watch him for her while she was working.

We can't assume her baby was left alone. We never see what happens. She may have been napping.

According to the cop interrogating Helen he said that Anne-Marie returned home and discovered that her baby Anthony wasnt there.

I think it is implied that Anne Marie had other children that she lost to the system bc of her neglectful ways.

During her first meeting with Helen and Bernadette she says something to the effect of "I keep my eye on this one. They're not going to take this one."

It gave me the impression that child services "took" her children away bc of some less than stellar parenting...
