How did Candyman know that his plan would work? SPOILER

Basically the kids now think she is Candyman. Either because the one kid though so and told the rest, or Candyman brainwashed the kids into thinking so by rewriting history with Helen, like with the graffiti on the wall and stuff.

However, the kids can hear a crying baby in the pile of trash, and decide to burn the baby along with her. Why did they think that a crying baby was okay to collateral damage, to burn alive, just to get the suspected killer?

And how did Candyman know that she would carry the hook with her into the trash, instead of maybe dropping it before going outside? Then the kids wouldn't have suspected her.

If he is psychic and was able to foresee that she would do this, how could he not foresee that she would stab him and get away then?

The kids didnt hear the baby crying. The boy Jake heard a noise coming from outside (which woke him up), he takes a look and then see a hook outside in the junkpile "he's here". Then he alerts the Cabrini Green residence that Candyman is in there.

Candyman didnt know Helen would carry a hook, I dont think he cared. He knew that she was coming to rescue the baby. He used the baby as bait. Thats why he lured her into the junkpile.

Candyman is not a psychic, he has a God complex. He believed Helen wasnt going anywhere because they were trapped in that fiery junkpile "we are already dead" but Helen bravely fought for her life and the baby's.
