I watched this movie a few days ago, but I'm not totally sure whether I watched the edited or unedited version. Could someone point out the differences? I feel like I watched the edited version because I didn't find anything too explicit, besides the obvious rape scene, but it still wasn't all that bad as everyone made it out to be. Did I watch the edited version or is everyone else just a bunch of pussies?
shareI can give you some of the differences, as I have seen both versions of the film.
1) In the edited version, the scene where the Benoit breaks into a suburban home and the mother spazes out on the floor in front of the door, omits the killing of the child, who is eventually suffocated to death. The last you see of the kid is when he escapes from Benoit in the woods, giving the impression that the child survives the invasion.
2) The gang rape is toned down quite a bit.
Is the region 2 Tartan dvd release the same as the Criterion version? Or does the tartan cut out some scenes that are present in the Criterion?
