I consider myself something of a connoisseur of comic adaptations of movies and TV programs: I have Dark Horse's adaptation of the "Vienna" episode of THE YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES tucked away somewhere, and I used to have Dennis O'Neill's official adaptation of BATMAN RETURNS, with a truly breathtaking cover painted by Dave Dorman. So I've often wondered what a comic book based on the BUFFY movie would have looked like.
I realize that, per Joss Whedon's preferences, it would be quite different from the movie. (In fact, most comic adaptations are already a little different from their cinematic counterparts, since they're of necessity based on shooting scripts rather than finished films.) But assuming that THE ORIGIN starts out along the same trajectory as the movie, I would picture it being a bit less "goofy" in its presentation. (It's generally harder to make a funny, "realistic" comic than it is to make a funny, "realistic" movie, anyway.)
I'd imagine opening the comic to find, on the first page, an illustration of the medieval prologue that was a LOT more impressive than anything the filmmakers could have come up with. Then, in the last panel of that page, I'd expect to see, maybe, an exterior shot of a shopping mall, with the "brown tie" line coming from somewhere inside the building.
