Wow this film is so dated!

I remember watching this for the first time in 1992 (when I was 15). At the time, I remember thinking that this movie was sensationally modern and was a great reflection of modern society with regard to style, substance and dialogue.

Now, in 2010, it is painfully clear that Boomerang showcases nothing that's modern about the world today. It is painfully 90s and stunningly different from what's considered "cool" in 2010.

An interesting observation I made while watching this on HBO today.

Of course if you are speaking about styles and trends when it comes to colloquialisms, hairstyles, and clothes it is going to be dated. It's almost 20 years old! But the film as a whole was not very good. The pacing was bad and Halle Berry's acting was atrocious. It was a decent idea but that's where it stops. The jokes were lame and the love story was half-baked. You have to take into consideration that you were 15 years old and when I was 15 years old I thought action movies were the best.

The sad part is that movies like this still get made. Minus all the bad 90's hairstyles and clothing of course.

Of course a 20 year old movie ages. Thats the point of present day set movies, fashion, language, technology etc moves on.

Just watch it as a period piece.

I see someone learned a new word, and desperately wanted to apply it to a conversation somehow.

I was thinking this as I watched last week!

I was 16 when it came out and, after seeing a string of predominantly black movies where the main characters lived in poverty and died by the gun; I was excited to see something different. (There was a whole lot less variety back then)
It was pretty, stylish, funny and, everybody was poised, polished and, professional (except Nelson & Strangé).

Now, in 2013, although it's still pretty; it's sort of like watching a long 90's music video with really funny lines here and there.

It's interesting how some movies age well and, others don't.

EX: "The Blues Brothers" and "Trading Places" still work 30 years later("Mr. Mom" is surprisingly relevant to today). While, "Say Anything" (big romantic move would be considered stalker-ish now) and, The "Police Academy" movies...actually, a few of the Steve Guttenberg films; don't seem to stand up as well as they did back then.
