'Atleast My Woman didn't leave me for no damn guardian angel'

Till this very day i still don't get that joke. it's so funny when they're in the exercising room, but seriously, what does it mean?

reply

What it means is that his woman made up some bogus excuse why he couldn't be with him. Instead of saying she was leaving him for another man, she says she's leaving him for an guardian angel, which states that she is trying to make him look stupid. Its saying that she's so desperate to leave him, that she would go with a guardian angel, (who does not exist)

Back in the 1980s in New York City, a crime preventation group patrol the city city called "Guardian Angels". They were volunteers I believe, and wore red berets and looked ridiculious....lol. That was the premiss behind the joke. Get it? lol

...but I think it was funnier when I thought that she left him for a spiritual being.

You guys are hilarious but I always thought it meant she became a nun or something...lol

Funny that this thread is recently alive and well. When I heard that the Guardian Angels restarted their patrols in New orleans recently, I automatically thought of that line in the movie.

As an aside, Randy, I have to give you kudos for your OUTSTANDING name...Randy Watson as Joe the Policeman in the "What's Goin' Down" episode of "That's My Mama..." HAHAHA!! Beautiful!

The Guardian Angels were a vigilante group in NYC that still patrols the streets today. I grew up in the Bronx and I used to see them walking around all the time.

If you paid attention to the next line that David Allen Grier said after Martin said that:
"I'd have *beep* him up, if he didn't know that karate *beep*
