Feels weird doesen't it??? Now you can see how we feel when we watch ten-years of a show called Dallas with scenes filmed in downtown Dallas Texas in which you never see any blacks!!!!! How about Seinfeld, or the majority of the movies/shows that are supposed to be taking place in the major cities of America in which there is NO INTERACTION WITH BLACK FOLKS!!!!!! For us blacks it was "refreshing" to see professional black folks who weren't singing or playing a sport. Without sounding racist I absolutely adore the fact that this movie was populated almost entirely by blacks none of who were drug addicts or dealers, pimps thugs or street "ho's". This was one stylish movie. It presented some of my fine and beautiful people in roles that you were not ashamed of.

No, not angry just stating the facts. In fact Seinfeld is the prototype of the situation that I was referring to. Pathetic is the perfect word to describe the situation. It's pathetic to me that when there is a "black" movie without the "standard" black roles (crook, mammy, ho, pimp, pusher, addict)that there is a conversation in the FIRST place. No anger my friend, just giving the "other" side.

Rock N Roll Outlaw that was very well put. The point being that we as blacks love a lot of shows and movies that have few or no blacks in them especially positive blacks. This is simply because the numbers are so small that if us black folk gave up watching TV/movies because blacks aren't represented/fairly represented then we would hardly EVER watch ANY TV or movies!!!!!!!!! If it is entertaining then it is entertaining so how come when an "entertaining" black movie is made with little or no white characters in it we get to have a "discussion" about the racial make up of that movie.

Thank u! Why do white people CONSTANTLY complain about tv shows or movies with all black casts when there are so many white sitcoms and movies with ONLY white people? Just look at Seinfield or ANY WOODY ALLEN Movie. NOT ONE Black person in either of those. Doesn't feel good when the shoe is on the other foot now does it?
^ And there it is in a nutshell.
Heartbreaker with a Broken Heart.

Storm, I can see where your point is coming from, and many of the others who posted, but, if I may point out that not all "white or other ethinicity's, including African American, do not 'constantly' complain" (Trust me, we all know there is very many. I have a degree in film (no this does not make me an expert or anything and I am not trying to appear to be), but it was funny I watched the film (Boomerang) and found it refreshing to see a cast that compromised all African Americans (well mostly), but I didn't think "Where are all the whites..." For a second I thought, where are all the other nationalities? Yes, I agree with many of you that films from the USA are copromised of mainly white people, but I do think with Independant filmakers we are seeing art/film from other cultures, which many of us (all ethincities) did not understand or know. I do not think the original poster started this post to upset anyone, they just recognized something that they thought was intriguing. And, unfortunateley, there are vicisous people who ripped into them instead of trying to find out what they really were trying to get at. I remember I took a class in film school called "Women and Minorities in film". It was an incredible class and I could write for hours about it. But it explained how film, television and radio changed the way we look at society and women and minorities in film. I am a high school Counselor now and on the first day of class I put 2 questions on the board and if any student can get 1 of them right I will buy them lunch for a week.....
Who was the first woman to run for vice president?
Who was the first African American female to win an Oscar?
I to this day have NEVER had a student in the 3 year get either of them right. I think we need to educate our youth and stop arguing about the past. Iam full blooded Irish, and my people were persecuted when they came to this country. I am gay, but I think we should all look forward. All of us live in a great country and I really like the fact we can talk on boards like this openly and freely. We have a long way to go let us try and make the best of it. Happy Holidays all (yes I know there are spelling errors)
I agree, but usually in these situations, barring this OP because to me he/she seems genuine, many individuals come up with threads like this to race bait.
I am a child of all film, one of my favorites is "Hot Fuzz" and there are no blacks in that at all. I let the plot of the film decide for me if it is any good, not who is in it.
Why should it matter? There are Plenty of movies with No Black people in them (or worse, the Blacks are some type of servants...) This movie is realistic in some instances.
shareI was pretty confused. Even outside the office, 90% of the people were black.
I know some black comedies stuff the cast with black people, but this was ridiculous.
So what because a film has no white people in it?
The world doesn't revolve around white people, believe it or not.
The restaurant scene was full of white people. The dance scene in New Orleans had a mix of people. Hell, the entire board of the company was nothing but white men. That's far more representation than most minorities get in a typical mainstream move
shareDon't you just feel so sorry for those poor minority white folk being "discriminated" against? I mean, doesn't it just bring tears to your eyes?
Maybe they should form their own civil rights org--the National Suburban League?(LOL)
I'm thinking, maybe they should call Al Sharpton.
”Deh Deh Deh, DA Dabacco”-Puert Rican dude from the ”I aint your Papi” episode of COPS.
"Now I'm no racist, my best friend is african american"
I feel sorry for your "best friend." Maybe you're just the token non-african american friend she/he keeps around. I hope.
It's my house, and I live here.
wasn't the board (of directors), or the high-profile client(s) they were serving for the revised strangé commercial all white? there's your grand irony.

"say jim! whooo! that's a bad outFIT!" ~ superman (1978)
This "african" american stuff drives me crazy!! And it drives my black friends crazy as well. Seriously!! They are black. Should others be called European American? Or how about Asian American? Or better yet Antartican American. Or South America American.
Make it stop!!!
Seeing that 90% of TV and films feature only white people it's refreshing to see a film that features an almost entirely black cast. It reminds me of a Lenny Henry sketch from the 80s in which it's announced that the cast of "Cheers" is being replaced with black actors. Now, I love "Cheers" but it's true to say that its lack of diversity was hilariously egregious, much like "Friends" a decade or so later (in fact, it's even worse in "Friends" case seeing as that show is set in New York rather than Boston, and one could argue that a show set around a coffee shop and group of upwardly mobile twentysomethings makes for a more positive setting for diversity than a bar full of deadbeats and minimum-wage workers).
As for 'Boomerang' I wonder if the filmmakers were intentionally spoofing the tendency for most shows/films of the day to feature entirely white casts seeing as both scenarios are very unrealistic. Unless you're confined to certain neighbourhoods you're going to cross paths with at least one person of a different race during your average day.
