Damn!! My posts attract so many nutty B-A-S-T-A-R-D-S!
Just listened to the Director commentary on the DVD and never knew this (its also mentioned on the Trivia section)...but apparently, the original ending was the rooftop hug between the 3 friends (Grier, Lawrence & Murphy), pretty much hinting Murphy gets NEITHER girl. They ultimately decided he had to "choose"...and of course, they went with the more "Hollywood" ending and had Murphy end up with Berry's character...although I think most of here can agree that in REAL LIFE, she'd be considered an IDIOT for taking him back!
But it IS like real life! I have a close friend of the family that CONSTANTLY takes back her husband despite, cheating on her, stealing money from her, even getting her ARRESTED! Unforgivable stuff in my book, and yet, he somehow he convinces her time & time again to take him back whenever he gets the "itch" to again claim "I'm sorry" and "I love you.." And this girl is a LOOKER too...has several guys interested in her, but she keeps going back to this short & fat PUTZ...who can understand women!?!?

Girls are not the only ones to stay with jerks. Guys are every bit as bad and stay with girls who treat them like total sh*t and take them for granted.
That said, this was a Hollywood ending that IS more like real life. As pointed out earlier in the commentary, I would have loved this movie even more if it ended on the rooftop with the three guys making up.

lets face it, women like jerks, bad boys, projects. Sure, this is a generalization, but there will be one woman out there who will say she is not like that, whcih proves the rule.
and some guys stay with women who treat them bad. The main reason for this is that the guy thinks he will never get laid again if he single.

Women, and indeed men for that matter, tend to be attracted to confidence. The sad reality is that so-called bad boys tend to project confidence, whereas a lot of genuinely nice guys are also too shy to get out there and approach women. I don't think it's the 'bad boy' aspect that women are attracted to, but the confidence that goes hand-in-hand with that personality type (I'm not referring to teens who are often attracted to the 'wrong people' but women). I think if you ask most women they'd say they'd like a decent, even 'nice guy', who also happens to be confident enough to approach them. And to be fair, this isn't just a female thing; most men, I'm sure, are also attracted to confidence (which doesn't mean loud, but can often be quite understated), unless they're bullies just looking for a woman to belittle.
