Batman Returns - Caravan Of Garbage

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2jvWiQTkYo

Due to the overwhelming success of Batman 1989 Warner Brothers and DC moved hell and high water to lure back Tim Burton and Michael Keaton for it's 1992 sequel, Batman Returns. With the death of The Joker new villains were introduced including Danny DeVito's Penguin, Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman, Christopher Walken's Max Shreck and the Red Triangle Gang. And boy is it very Tim Burton for better or worse. Thanks for listening to our Caravan Of Garbage review!

letting burton take full control of this film was like letting lunatic run asylum.

batman 89 classic because burton under pressure by exec to make proper film and not make shit burton film.

reply

Bah.

This film is my personal obsession.

It might not be my favourite Batman film (that would probably be Batman 89, followed by last year's The Batman), but it is my most cherished film overall (if that makes any sense).

It's weird because I'd only give this a 4/5 or an 80% rating overall. It's a very flawed film, so it doesn't merit a perfect score, and whilst it's in my top ten films list for 1992, it doesn't break into the top five, and yet it's the film that matters most to me on a personal level. Visually, thematically, tonally, humour-wise, sex-wise, aesthetically-wise it ticks all the right boxes for me, even if it isn't a remotely faithful adaptation of Batman.

What was your username at the old IMDb?

Didn't you say you remember me? You remind me of one of the posters that used to post a lot, as I did, on the Batman 89 and Batman Returns boards.

reply

no i never post on batman returns board harvey i tell you before i lurks on old imdb but i could not type english yet!! i read better than type.

i do remember you from batman boards i sometimes read as i am big fan of batman 89 but returns is the butt fugly keelai version of 89.

reply

That's a shame. 89 is my favourite, but Returns means more to me. I'd urge you to give it another chance.

reply

ok harvey i will give it other shot because i respect you. but last time i see returns was masive disappoint.

it is too much like burton film and not enough batman

i see many mention sharon stone should play catwoman and i agrees. it also need more firepower and firefights like 89 and penguin should not be so disgusting i do not want to look at keelai lookalike for 2 hour

fix these and you have classics.

Another great observation. I actually paid money to see this crap in a theater. After it was over, I felt like I was robbed! Aside from Michelle Pfifer looking amazing, the rest of the film was absolute sh!t. It's a shame as it had a great cast but suffered the most from absolutely dreadful writing!

And I agree with you about Burton. The only thing that he ever did that was worth a damn was Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Although I did hear that Ed Wood was good, but I have never seen it.

reply

yes i agree. i read somewhere that sharon stone was maybe play catwoman and that would make film better. put stone and more firefights in movie and batman returns would be good film.

did you like beetlejuice? only burton film i do not find weird is beetlejuice and batman 89. all his other film too weirdo for my taste. i have not see pee wee's adventure.

reply

I thought Beetlejuice was okay. I don't like Alec Baldwin, and I never found Geena Davis to be hot. So, they and the weird happy ending where they all live together brings the movie down for me. However, I will admit that Michael Keeton was amazing in it.

I liked Batman 1989. That was a legit good movie. I really like the part where all of the news people have no makeup on. It's hysterical that the same thing happened in the real world when Covid came down. All of the newscasters had to do their own hair and makeup and a lot of them looked like crapola! LOL.

You should watch Pee Wee's Big Adventure it's really well done. Burton's weirdness worked in that movie.

yes michael keathon was amazings in beetlejuice. i remember he was consider to be nomination for oscar. if there was oscar for comedy performance he would win! amazing comedy and he could pull off batman. keaton is underrate, he make so many great film in 80s and early to mid. 90s

hahahahah i have to see those newscaster who have no hair and make up peoples hahhahaha!! so funny!

thank you for recommend of pee wee's. i will check it out.

Okay, so here is Sandra Smith she's a popular news host on Fox. In the first video she looks almost flawless. This is prior to the lockdowns.

This is her after the covid lockdowns when she had to do her own makeup. Now this is a few months into the lockdown so by this time she had gotten better at doing her own hair and makeup. A few months prior to this she didn't even resemble the person in the previous video or this video.

So, as you can see without her makeup team she's not as stunning as people would think. There were even worse videos than the above ones. Some news casters were almost unrecognizable. I laughed my butt off when this started happening and the first thing that came to mind was Tim Burtons 1989 version of Batman.

This is after the lockdowns ended and she got her makeup team back.

yes i see difference there yes.

yes many woman can look semi fugly without make ups but i think that woman and many like her is lucky as she still look ok without makeup.

I love this movie, reviews and common sense be damned.

reply

It's in my top three Batman movies, along with The Dark Knight and The Batman. On any given day any one of them could hold the top spot.

Not as bad as Batman & Robin with Clooney
