Bruce, Oswald and Max all suffered tragedies
But we never seem to talk about it...
Bruce lost his parents when he was a mere child. They were murdered before his very eyes FFS!
Oswald was locked in a cage and thrown in a sewer as a baby FFS! And went on to be treated as a circus freak and live underground in the sewers as an outcast. When people say, he was 'rich' they must be out of their minds. When did he experience the benefit of being 'rich'?
And contrary to the nonsense I hear from a lot of people, Max wasn't even born rich. He was born *poor*. He's an industrious self-made man who pulled himself up by his bootstraps (or, as he puts it 'a poor schmoe who got lucky'; it's all in the film folks if you bother to LISTEN), which is why he chides Bruce and The Mayor for being bluebloods, and Bruce for being 'born to the manor with a silver spoon' and a 'trust-fund goodie-goodie'. He also evidently lost his wife (some speculate he may have killed her, but we don't know that for certain, and it's possible that she may have died from natural causes, which is, suffice to say, very sad).
Why do people keep putting these unfortunate men down? Why do they feel the need to simp for others, but IGNORE these characters' overwhelming tragedies? ๐
