Basic Instinct 3 πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ

Various SF and Horror series are ignoring bad sequels/reboots and going back to the original film(s) making a direct sequel and bringing back the original actors - the new Halloween, Terminator 6 is attempting it again (after T5 tried but didn't work), Alien 5 (aka Aliens '2') might still happen, same with King Conan, and now theres news that a direct sequel to Verhovans Robocop will happen (ignoring the sequels and reboot).. so they should do a BI3 and not be deterred by the failure of BI2..(another BI would be especially timely with female lead movies being all the rage now)

one of the problems with BI2 was no Michael Douglas, also no established director, and maybe the London setting (see here for some reasons why BI2 didn't work - https://moviechat.org/tt0430912/Basic-Instinct-2/58c7c208f9fcca09a0dc6be4/Reasons-why-Basic-Instinct-2-did-not-work).. so bring MD back, get a big name director (Verhovan again or maybe Cronenberg as he almost did BI2), and set it in Hitchcocks San Fran again or at least NYC or LA.

As for the story, do it more in the vein of the Hannibal films and have new characters with the originals (like new SW) - e.g. a copycat killer (Amber Heard or Margot Robbie) is murdering guys like Catherine Tramell was doing 25years ago (with the same ice pick). Nick 'Shooter' Curran (Michael Douglas) reluctantly has to come out of retirement to aid the inept corrupt detective in charge of the case (Wahlberg or Butler) but to stop her he'll need the help of Tramell who disappered 15 years ago .. and who harbours a dark secret that may or may not be connected to the current events..(and who isn't quite ready to retire her ice pick just yet..)❄️⛏️

that is one amazing treatment, write it!

reply

I would do if sharon stone asked me to

reply

well you should and shop it around.

reply

Sharon Stone definitely looked too old to me in the sequel. That is just one of the many problems of the film.

reply

why is that a problem? either way no chance this property will be revisited, the femme fatale is OUT in today's current climate.

reply

SS being older wouldnt be a problem at all as a) she not that old/still looks good and b) she wouldn't have to be doing all the sex stuff (thatd be the newcomer like Robbie or Heard - probably Heard more likely as Robbie now too established to star in a sequel movie) instead Tramell could be like a mythical Hannibal type figure.

however powerful female lead movies are back with a vengeance now so itd make sense to bring back BI (providing they can come up with something as good as the original)

reply

Yeah Stone shoulda cashed in on a sequel back in the early 90's but she waited too long. A prequel could work but I doubt theres much call for it tbh.

reply

maybe it could work as a Prequel/Sequel like Psycho IV (with Heard as young Catherine)

reply

No news yet. Surely a new BI (remake or 'legacy sequel') must be on the cards for this new #metoo/timesup era πŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺπŸ”ͺ

reply

er..I guess its probably safe to scrub Heards name from the list of potential Tramell successors..? (whether she telling lies or not the whole thing is just too much problem now)

reply

End scene: San Fran Bay/GG Bridge (Vertigo location). Catherine saves Nick by shooting dead Margot Robbie who's just about to stab him with an ice pick (the same one from original of course)

reply

I believe in the awful BI2 she states that Nick is dead.

reply

Cant remember, but Catherine would never lie. would she..?

reply

She never named him but said that the detective she was involved with had died.

reply

With the mega success of Top Gun: Maverick (1.4b) maybe its time for Basic Instinct: Tramell (or Basic Instinct: Shooter)

reply

I highly doubt it, this movie would need sex and Hollywood has total phobia of sex now.

reply

How about a Basic Instinct III rated PG13 (hard R cut for dvd) lol

reply

Oh Michael and Sharon sleeping again together, or two other younger actors?
