"and I don't look in the toilet before I flush it"

Nick said this to the psychologists to... convince them he wasn't the psychopath?

😨

was this really a thing?

and the newspaper read, "her head was not found."

I have no idea, but it doesn't make sense. You actually should look in the toilet before you flush, to check and see if everything is normal. This line always bugged me.

reply

it's just a really out of place line, trying to figure out the reasoning/history of it. I'll chalk it up to being an L.A. screenwriter colloquialism.

You're an idiot.

You're an abortion.

Always thought this was an odd and out of place line too. It's not like checking the toilet before you flush it is an indicator of mental health. How else are you suppose to notice something's amiss with your bowels etc?

This thread cracked me up. 

But anyway, I assumed it has some kind of basis in established theory. Outdated probably but a part of the psychologists canon by way of Freud's twisted psyche?

I;ve never personally heard it other than this movie though.

I however can see where the connection would come in. It's BS but I can see a neurotic, obsessive psychologist suggesting that it was indicative of some kind of repressed, anally retentive (pun intended) disposition. But prob nonsense for those reasons already indicated by other posters
