I didn't quite catch how he tracked down those 2 kids who raped the nun. How did he piece that together?

The lieutenant asks the woman where she got it, and she told him that two kids pawned it at her husbands store. He figures that the rapists stole it when they raped the nun, and asked if she knew where they were, and she lead him to them.
