Good eye, gbd. The kid with the darker shirt entered the back seat first, followed by his friend. While watching that shot, I wondered how the Lt. could keep an eye on both his prisoners, but apparently the first guy did (as you suggest) and climbed over the seat. Aside from being handcuffed, it couldn't have been too difficult to make the climb; the car appears to have bucket seats.
