1492/DVD.SE/blu ray/HD-DVD??????

Considering that today, every DVD is at one time or another given the S.E. treatment... not to talk about Ridley Scott´s other films, which are some of the best edtions on the markedet.

I live Denmark, and i can buy the bare bones dvd at a very cheap price... and that,s cool. BUT!!!!
I want 1492 in a newly remastered. dir.cut. and extras coming out the Bong H.... give it to me in DVD/ blu ray/HD-DVD. i dont care.

A couple of last ?

Who owns the rights to the movie, is this the reason ?

Is there a Dir. Cut ?

And is Ridley S. even avare that there is 1000´s of people the world over who adore´s this film.

Is there a conspiracy to bury this movie? It was a box-office and critical failure and sparked numerous controversy surrounding Columbus' discovery of the new world and the historical inaccuracies portrayed. It has rarely been exhibited since its 1992 release. I have it on laserdisc and a region 2 DVD of poor quality but the region 2 DVD has almost 9 minutes of additional footage not shown in the U.S. With Ridley Scott doing special editions for Blade Runner, Legend and Alien I was hoping he would revisit this great masterpiece. It's a beautiful film regardless of historical inaccuracies and the Vangelis score is one of my favorite scores of all-time. Somebody release a good quality anamorphic DVD please.

The Dutch DVD release is high quality, anamorphic, 5.1 surround, etc. A million times better than the earlier French and UK releases. Definately the one to get. But no decent extras.

There must be a major riff with Ridley and Paramount. Since 1492, he's only done one other film for them and that was in 1994. None since.

On the other hand look at all the issues with Blade Runner and Warner Brothers. The 'Final Cut' has interviews with cast/crew, producers, and studio heads talking about disagreements over the original and subsequent releases.

...and Paramounts management has surely changed over the years, so it must be a Ridley thing.
