Is there a movie on Amerigo Vespucci ?

I ran a quick search on imdb , found nothing , is there something on the man who lent the name to america ?

Amerigo never really did much of anything, except compile the work of other people and publish it under his own name - the Algore of his day. He never even left Europe.

Still could make a movie about that though, Cyborg. It would be more dramatic, but the movie about a fraudulent explorer who causes more harm than good with his self-aggrandizement. Not sure the Al Gore comparison is accurate, but I think it's hip or popular to be dismissive of Al Gore these days for some reason. I wouldn't mind seeing other explorer-conquistador epics made. Also, not to piss of the fans of this film, I think this epic deserves one more chance at being cinematically great on all levels. I respect this movie more than I did before, and you can't have a project concering Ridley Scott, Gerard Depardieu, Sigourney Weaver, Vangelis, and a story about a monumental, albeit controversial, figure without having some merit. However, this movie has some serious flaws that seen in hindsight could be corrected. But alas, I feel the world is ready to movie on from historical films and movies about Columbus. I think people have stopped seeing him as much of an great agent of change and exploration as they used and have begun to acknowledge him as a significant agent for destruction and cruelty. In truth, he probably deserves to regarded as both to some degree. However, the film world just isn't as historically entertained as it used to be. Oh, we have our historical epics and we appreciate them, but we seem to be more and more surprised when a historical epic can also be entertaining and engrossing as well.

That's not true, he himself sailed on the ships that went to Argentina, its was there he understood that they were dealing with a whole new continent.

From Wikipedia

Starting in the late 1490s Vespucci participated in two voyages to the New World that are relatively well-documented in the historical record. Two others have been alleged but the evidence is more problematical. Traditionally, Vespucci's voyages are referred to as the "first" through "fourth", even by historians who refute one or more of the trips.

He was a pretty rotten historical character ... I doubt anyone cares to undertake making a movie that either fakes up a positive image, or tells the truth about him,

No reason Hollywood can't recast the character as a black man. John Boyega comes to mind
