One of Ridley's best movies!

I watched it again recently on dvd and loved most of it! Sure, the casting of Gerrard was an odd one, but he's very good in the role regardless, and the rest of the cast is terrific as well!

Brilliant cinematography as expected, but it's also very well done in terms of the overall visual experience. Lots of detail in the outfits, sets, locations etc.

Also, the action was very well done, similar to The Last Of The Mohicans, in some way at least.

Incredible SFX too!!!

The pacing is a bit off midway through, though not by much, and I wouldn't have minded another ten minutes of them on the boat, during the first voyage, but despite the criticisms, it's a very good movie!

Easily one of Ridley's best!
