Could have been better

Good attempt on the event of completing 500 yrs after Columbus embarked on the voyage of new world.

Hollywood is always known for creating the era authentically by means of production designing/Costumes/Makeup/Cinematography. So 1492-CoP does it nicely, but somehow I feel it lacks content.

Except 2-3 scene movie is not up to the mark. Especially when Ridley Scott is directing I expected it to be more than average.

Director has failed to connect audience with protagonist's journey, emotions and challenges Columbus had faced. Right from the opening scene and background score during credit is completely mismatching. Very first background score and images in red background could have been more suitable for some thriller/horror flick. If I would have not known that movie is based on Columbus journey, I could have easily assumed it's some horror movie.

One scene I must mention here which I liked most is when Utopan going back to his clan and Columbus asked him to speak to him. Utopan replies "You never learned how to speak my language" and smiles. That was really good scene.

I appreciate Director chose not to throw some random erotic scene to get international (!!) audience's attention. And effort was honest. Still it could have been better.
