So, about the origin place of 'Christopher Colon'...

Does anyone entertain the notion of him being, potentially, native from Portugal?

I'm portuguese and a lot of local authors and historians have factual proofs that he might be portuguese. One intriguing is that is from a village called "Cuba" in Alentejo district and that's why probably Columbus gave that name to the island of Cuba.

He has been claimed for pretty much every nation around the Mediterranean, but the predominant view, and the one best supported by evidence, is that he was from Genoa, as tradition has always held.
