This SUCKS! Leno announces his departure!

Last night Jay announced he is leaving the Tonight Show next spring. What a dumbass move! NBC are fools!

I still say Leno gets another show IF he wants it!

reply

I hope they do a 1135 spot and not that 1100 spot they are planning. I like fallon but i really want leno to kick his ass in the ratings and make nbc realize their mistakes.

reply

Yeah that would be great! Leno would destroy Fallon!

reply

I personally still think that Leno is the best late night TV host out there currently. I've always found him to be the most enjoyable to watch.

As for his future, I agree he could get another show if he wants. He is probably better off doing something smaller. He doesn't need the daily grind of doing a five night per week show, not unless he wants that? He should try to do something for cable. I could see him doing a weekly show for HBO.

reply

He could easily do a once a week show on NBC, CBS, ABC, or Fox!

What if he returned to his stand-up roots and did yearly specials for HBO, kind of like George Carlin used to do? I think that would be much more creative and respectable than bringing his late-night routine to another network.

Jay was offered a once a week thing before and turned it down. He likes the grind of a 5 night (not 4 like Kimmel) weekly routine. And he's always doing his standup somewhere around the country and famously said he hasn't touched a penny of what he's earned from "TTS", preferring to live on his standup fees.

reply

But alien as of now Leno has ZERO nights a week! I'm sure Leno wouldn't mind getting away from the garage ONE night a week and do a show!

I highly doubt Leno will be satisfied leaving show business completely! He just hit an 8 week ratings high and beat Kimmel and Letterman in even the youngest demo! Just watch, he'll get another offer as we get closer to his departure date.

Oh, he'll never retire as long as he can perform. Jay doesn't believe in vacations; he tried to get NBC to hire a second staff of writers to work on jokes whenever the show would take regularly scheduled breaks in production. He's too much of a work horse to ever leave show business.

reply

So why do you think Leno will simply disappear then? He will do another show! Even in his duet with Fallon he said he has Fox on the line and may even take over for Dave! LOL!

I agree with you. There's Carson,Leno and I'll go with Conan third.I'll watch his show live instead of on demand now that Leno is going.I hope that Fox or ABC comes calling for him to their network really soon.I mean I like Conan but if he couldn't do it for NBC,how the heck is Fallon going to?

reply

I just can't believe Jay hasn't announced a new show yet! HOW can you go from a huge daily show like the Tonight Show to absolutely nothing? Especially when you consider what a workaholic Jay is!

reply

He may have a new contract with a gag order attached. If anyone spills the beans before the Olympics, the deal is off.

He has hobbies fauny. Fun, expensive ones. And enough money to support them for quite a while. I wouldn't worry too much. Perhaps now he'll have more time to drive those bitchin' autos of his.

I do hope he's not off the air for too long. He's a good man, and entertaining as hell.

Jimmy Failing is not going to get the job done!

reply

At least he makes leave saying "That was clever" as opposed to the feeling Leno leaves which is "Which writer wrote that terrible monologue?"

reply

Don't count Leno out! He got his job back last time and he can do it again!

reply

Need to start a letter writing campaign or something.

reply

He's the best thing on NBC besides The Voice.

reply

Jay is DA MAN!

The undisputed KING of late night!

reply

Long live Leno!
