Wish granted...?

Hey everyone,

I just saw that on TVshowsondvd.com:

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Odyssey-The-Complete-Series/10413

Seems great, except that I think the price is a little too expensive. I already own the series with fair quality episodes, maybe I'll buy the boxset if I have the proof that the episodes are top-quality. Plus the fact that I don't know this Omnifilm company at all.

Anyway, the news is here, and the wish is granted: the show is now on DVD. :)

OmniFilm is based in Canada. I know because I live here. They have a few TV channels in Ontario (not sure if any other province) and they host lots of multi-cultural programs.

So they are not a tiny no-name company. They are fairly sized.

Also, as for DVD quality, you gotta think of when this was filmed. About 12 years ago. So the quality your gonna get is from 12 year old TV cameras how they were filmed.

All it has been done is taken off the reel or whatever format they store it on and transferred to DVD. I highly doubt they changed anything. The quality will probably be as good as it originally aired on TV back in 1993, and the aspect ratio will probably remain 4:3 as that was its native.

So ya, up to the person to decide if $112 is worth it for a DVD set of a kids show of only 30+ episodes.

I bought the DVDs and yes, it is in 4:3, but else if it was filmed 12 years ago it's in really great quality...

I never watched dvd in blue-ray or HD, but this DVD is high quality enough for me...

112$ isn't that much... I already bought a full tv show for 360$ (8 seasons but that's 135$ for 3 seasons)

It's pretty normal they offer it at a high price else if it's 12 years old as they probably won't sale alot of copies...

P.S. I bought that dvd which is in English only else if I speak French as primary language because I'm a fan of that tv show... you're not? It's your choice, but don't complain about mine.

Dear Odyssey Fans,

I wanted to take the time to correct "nicegal6969" as to what sort of company Omni Film Productions is. Although the fact that she took the time to state that we are a legitimate company is much appreciated.

There IS a television network called OmniTV with which we have no affiliation.

Omni Film Productions has been in business since the late 70's and has produced many award-winning programs, one of these being The Odyssey. I encourage you to visit our website: www.omnifilm.com to view our future, present, and past productions. I am sure you will find something you have seen before or perhaps something you would like to see! This should also alleviate any concerns about Omni being a legitmate company.

In appreciation to the fans, we opted not to have the DVD set sold through a retail seller. It was decided to sell them directly through our office in order to ensure that the fans were guaranteed their DVD and the best customer service possible.

I apologize to those of you who feel there should have been bonus features such as commentaries. As this program was first produced back in 1992, trying to find any extra material proved to be very difficult. I did spend some time trying to track any additional footage to be included in the box set but unfortunately my search was fruitless. It was not for lack of effort but more for lack of resources that this sort of thing was not included in the box set.

This project was taken on solely due to the amount of fan requests I received and I am glad to see that many of you are enjoying your DVD's!

Kind Regards,

Gary Gottselig

it's a bummer they couldn't provide commentary...or any bonus features...it's like they don't even care!

because its a Canadian kids show with about only 30 episodes? You think they would add commentary to a show like this?

You should be greatful that we even got DVDs in the end
