No Justice No Peace

I think this is the funniest episode of all.

-"Ike and Tina, Gina"
-"You don't ever go against your man"
-"Sister, you can always come back"
-"Yeah, he got the draws"
-"Just one shoe Beady Bead"

I don't know why I raised my hand.

The day of the geechee is ova!!

reply

What the heck did that line mean lol? Was it from a movie?

reply

It took me a long time to figure out it is a line from A Soilder's Story.

I don't know why I raised my hand.

I still incorporate jokes from this episode in my everyday life.... Martin to Pam as she walks up to the witness stand: "It's not even like that. Just roll with it. Roll with it and shut up."

reply

I constantly use 'All my life!' Cole's world famous quote...lol at least three to four times a day when talking to by buddies.

-The bailiff dancing at "Got the drawers"

-The way the judge says "MISTER PAYNE!" cracks.me.up

-WHOEVER that is in the audience or on the set that is literally screaming with laughter.

-After the guilty verdict, when Martin screamed and reached back for Gina like he was getting life. [laugh]

-Martin strutting in the court room to a remixed Perry Mason theme tune. I didn't get it until I was older and started watching PM reruns. hahaha

As I look back at the episode, I noticed Martin going over the top...like you said 'reaching back for Gina like he was getting Life.' lol Some kind of way it always seemed to flow. As the seasons went on, he started getting wacky. Like, for instance Jerome in the first season was a smooth, yuckmouth pimp. But Once the show blew up, you ended up with JEROME'S IN THE HOUSE, WATCH YA MOUTH, RUB IT ON DOWN...SPINNING AROUND, BAD WIG JEROME. Still kind of funny, but a total change of Jerome's character. Never really see wacky pimps on tv, but let Martin tell it! The show was still killer.

I always thought that that was Tommy. But whoever it was, sounded like they were passing a kidney stone. Lol that dude was howling!!

reply

I love this episode, especially when he tried to plead insane. "Do the pocketknife" 😂..what in the hell is the pocketknife? That episode always has be dying.

Trolls make me laugh 

reply

I'm over Forty and I remember my Mom/Pops/Aunts/Uncles,...mentioning that as a kid as a Dance.

I can't even name the other Dances they'd mention,... except the "Mash Potato" and that's because it's in a few James Brown songs I have.

I think they had one called the "Juck", "Jook",... I don't know:):) Oh another is the "Tighten Up" but that's because I remember the name from an Old Cut by "The Dells".

But when Martin said it; it immediately reminded me.

Classic episode

Really classic

That episodes still had me in stitches. The whole courtroom scene was hilarious! I like how when Tommy was on the stand and said to Martin, "I was with you, Matlock." And Martin responded with "That's very funny, Heady Murphy."

I love how he went insane and Martin said "Ladies and gentleman of the jury...My brother!" The very dark man just looked at him. Even when he fell into the lap of the white man and the other white gentleman was just laughing and pointing. The extras really got themselves a treat for comedy that day. Lol

And "The Pocket-Knife" I believe just a dance probably wasn't very popular. Some urban areas had their own unique dance sets and I think "The Pocket-Knife" was one of them. I remember hearing it used in something else back in the 90's.

This is my FAVORITE episode of the entire series, hands down.

Martin was so ridiculous in this episode. Everyone from the arresting officer to the judge and even the bailiff had me cracking up!

reply

The Cop was great too.

Oh and when you see it again, watch the Jury, a few of them couldn't hide their laughter, especially a female on the back row.

It's up there as a Favorite but my alltimer,..When Martin Goes Nino Brown and he has a New Jack City Summit over his missing CD Player.

Tommy not being able to hold his laughter is just too funny to watch.

reply

Yep. The New Jack City spoof is my second fav. The fake dog is what gets me. That dam dog!

reply

BirdHead,

#amn!!! Good Catch.

I forgot the dog falling over and Martin w/o thinking a second saying "Stay"!!!

I know that had to be an Ad Libbed Line and that's when Tommy really started to lose it.

Oh another great scene/episode, "The Mack", when Martin walks into the party with that overthe top Shoes, Hat, walk, 70s music playing,....

For me this episode, Guard Your Grill, and Suspicious Minds are the best episodes of the entire series.

I can barely breathe when I watch No Justice, No Peace.

My favorite parts :

- The cop having his wife stand up for the court, and saying "She fine, ain't she"

- Cole breaking down on the stand after the Pacer was impounded, "They brought me down to play hard ball"

- Martin pleading insanity - that entire shtick, but especially "My mommy told me..." and "...do the pocketknife, do the pocketknife" followed by the barking.

- The best of all was that dude in the audience practically screaming with laughter.

I've seen these episodes countless times, and they still make me laugh until tears stream down my face!

Lady O, Ditto!!

On all counts.

We (all) have the same favs, just different order.

Another Fav, Martin at the Unemployment office, trying to hide, telling Myra(?) "They Know me. Watch this,..."What's up; I said "What's Up?" and the hard looking brother says,

"Man Sit Yo AZZ Down!"

Martin Laughed, Myra Laughed, and Martin later called him "Richard Roundtree" or "Jim Kelly"?

That show has some great scenes.

When Martin and Pam exchange disses is always funny too.

Dragon Fly Jones and his Assistant, always funny. Jerome (my fav) always funny; "Who is you? Whicha Nose all Snotty; you wanna Know about the Game; you better Ax Somebody!"

DVDs of seasons 1-4 will be in my casket with me.

reply

Now Mark you KNOW you funny when I just spewed my rum/root beer all over my screen. "Seasons 1-4 will be in my casket with me."

I am over here crying lol. But as you said, the white lady in the back tried so hard to keep her face straight but she lost it when Martin made that noise "bawk baaaawk!" Also I noticed that alot of the extras for the show they tend to use over and over. I have this crazy superpower to remember a face, and (for tv) can place with extreme accuracy the episode I saw it in. The dark skin dude was the same dude when Martin was selling his personal possessions at the end of season 2 and as he was walking out the door (before the eviction dude showed up) Martin says "I remember you, you didn't even help me out in court." Lol.

reply

You wanna know how funny the show's best episodes are; just read the folks comments on their favorite scenes/lines,..you'll crack up almost like you're watching them.

"Let's see, there's a lotta brothas names in here,..Tito, Jermaine,.."
"What does G-T-D mean?"

Tommy's mumbling the answer is NOW hilarious to me, after all these years.

Not to mention, the notes here reminded me or I never noticed, Tommy putting the Drawls in the Judge's face.

You either should be paid a trillion $$$s to be that funny or you should do it for free.

And Jerome's, "That was one of my Fresh Buns" to Little Dog, after he ran off one of Jerome's Lady Friends at the bar.

reply

What about.."Operator, I need the number for a brother named Wallace. Naw, i don't have a last name." From the episode when he was in the shoe store with Gina.

reply

Yep, another good one, when he thought Gina's Work Friend was pushing up on her and AFTER Cole and Tommy Convinced Martin "But you say He's Just a Friend,..."

Here's another, though I can't recall the exact episode or circumstance but it had something to do with (all of) them trying to convince the 911 Operator or Police Dispatcher they were White, to answer their emergency.

I remember one of them saying on the Phone, "Yes, I am White." and the Operator asking them ???s to test their "Whiteness":):) and in the end they failed when they went Ghetto on an answer:):); I think the answer they gave was "Hot Sauce"?

And Bruh Man's,..

"Nothing, just lettin the Bunion Breathe."

reply

That episode you are looking for is Season 1- Dead Men Don't Flush

The plumber comes over to fix the toilet and falls into a deep sleep however the gang in all their infinite wisdom believes he is dead. They call 911 trying to convince them to come get the body.
