Martin was not a very bright man

I love the show but he did some very brainless things. He went to sell shirts with Bruh Man and didnt check the shirts first?? The crazy thing is he had the shirts right in his hands when he was talking to Gina!! Da fuq?? Also, he went and spent a bunch of money on his "son" without getting a DNA test first??? Again, DA FUQ??

Haha, yeah I know right. He had the nerve to call Cole dumb

To be honest that whole "Martin's lost son" episode made no sense. If a little ten year old boy told me I was his father I would not claim him or tell anyone until the DNA results are revealed. Martin foolishly told Gina, her mother, his friends. WTF and how was he able to take this kid shopping and back to his home without talking to the boy's mother? Dumb episode from beginning to end.

reply

I see your point and Martin didn't question the kid or nothing just automatically took him in. I know "Marty Mar love the kids" but really a DNA test or contact with the mom would have made more sense.

Well, Martin DID do the math.

It's obvious him and the boy's mother were intimate that night.

The boy had a convincing story.

I would have dug a bit more but it basically shows one of Martin's character traits. He jumps the gun and is spontaneous. Therefore knowing Martin and his character traits, it's not far fetched to believe that he would have been impulsive and acted on the info provided to him...

Character traits? Like being an idiot?

Yeah, that episode is not a favourite of mines. I notice all of my faviorite sitcoms that does the whole "I'm your long lost child" scenario.... I'm not really fond of.

reply

You are right. He wasn't too smart. Not checking the shirts and just deciding to do business with Bruhman was ridiculous enough in and of itself.

With the little boy, I think "doing the math" and the little boy looking like Martin caused him to just accept that it was his son.

He wouldve made an awful father anyway. He told his "son" to answer the door while he went to another room and didnt even come back to check up on him for two minutes. He couldve been kidnapped!! Lolololololol

The funny thing is,The long lost son storyline happens on many sitcoms and they never check for dna.

Exactly, I just mentioned this in my post of and they also always do "woman is stranded, about to have a baby and main character must assist with birth".

It was all about comedy.

Martin had a lot of "slow" moments but that was part of the character's charm and what made the show so hilarious.

I am a lioness. I will not cringe for them.

I specifically remember thinking that the "son" didn't even look 10! He looked 8! My suspicion was confirmed when his mother said that he was 8. I knew it! Lol. Plus, it didn't hurt that Marcus T. Paulk really was 8 in real life. ;)
