Say what you want about the finale, but at least it was bittersweet.
I don't like how sitcoms tend to wrap things up with no heartfelt goodbyes or closure. It's understandable if the producers are not certain if another season is in store ("The Jeffersons," "Married With Children," to name a few). But if it's 100% the series finale, then a proper sendoff is rightfully demanding. The following sitcoms come to mind, besides "Martin"...
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Cheers
Frasier
The Cosby Show
Boy Meets World
Full House
A Different World
Growing Pains
As opposed to...
Everybody Loves Raymond
Two and a Half Men
While I won't deny that Martin and Tisha's lack of interaction took the finale's ratings down a notch or two, at least the cast put their [sincere and clenching] hearts into saying goodbye to their fans. And Martin's "One love. Martin L." was the icing on the cake. Big shoutout to Kirk Cameron as well for writing "Mike was here" on the Seavers' wall before the closing credits.
