Picture quality of the 'Best Of' DVD set

I recently got the "Not Just The Best of The Larry Sanders Show" on DVD, and noticed that during the episodes the picture seems a little fuzzy on my TV screen. Is anybody else experience the same thing?.

I've also the The Complete First season on DVD as well, but am experiencing no such problems with that one.

Yes, I've noticed the same fuzzy picture on my "Not Just the Best of..." DVD set.

Hopefully, with Shout! Factory on the job, the upcoming 'Complete Series' set will resolve that, as "It's Garry Shandling's Show" looked great on DVD and Shout! was also behind that release.

Generally Shout! Factory uses what they're given by the studio.

With "IGSS" they knew enough to make sure they obtained the uncut Showtime versions (they knew there would be a riot if they used anything but, such as the Fox cuts) and I'm sure they'll be uncut episodes as-aired on HBO but expecting them to do anything to actually improve the video quality is a bit of a stretch.

Shout! will round up the original versions of the episodes and include a bunch of extra features, that's what they do. Making them look better than ever isn't really their specialty, though you can rest assured that they'll look as good as they always did.

It actually isn't every episode on the set(I had only seen a few of them when I started this thread). Just some of them. And it's the Film(behind the scenes) portions that are fuzzy. The Talk show segments(shot on video) look fine. I'm actually not that bothered by it. I would have just thought that, maybe some effort would have gone into cleaning that up.

I agree - on the eps where the pic is kind of muddy, it's only in the film segments. Some of the eps look clear throughout...

Many people say this, but it's a misunderstanding of the show itself. The talk show parts are on film, whereas most of the show is on video, so the film parts look different. Fuzzy, some say. But that's the way the show is, the way it looked on TV riginally.

I realize it's shot on both film and video (part of the genius of the show, of course), but what we're saying is in some episodes, the film segments look more blurry or more fuzzy than the film segments in other episodes. That's all.

No big deal really, but there's a quality difference between some eps and I'm just curious as to why and am also anxious to see if those 'fuzzier' eps look any better on the Shout! release.

Can't wait for that Shout! release...
