I'm rewatching the series now. When I first saw it I thought they got rid of Darius in the first season finale for dramatic effect to introduce the Watchers. I didn't care for the way they did it because he brought a moderating influence to the series.

I had no idea the actor had passed away before the episode had aired.

I thought they handled that extremely well on such short notice, and "accidentally" created one of the saddest and most dramatic episodes of the series. It really is a turning point of the series, whether it wanted to be or not. Interesting to think about where Darius's character would have gone throughout the series though.
