The sheer amount of character hate this franchise receives is unreal.

(Primarily regarding good-aligned recurring characters, anyhow.)

People hate Tessa.
People hate Richie.
People hate Charlie.
People hate Amanda.
People hate Maurice.
People hate Anne.

People even hate Duncan .

Really, the only two majorly recurring and good-aligned characters that pretty much everyone is fine with are Joe and Methos. Then again, IMO, Methos was the target of an inordinate amount of fan ass-kissing from his debut appearance.

I don't agree with you. Hate is a strong word. I am sure people make criticisms about certain characters from time to time but I can't say I've read much hatred towards any of these characters.

Can you provide some examples of the types of hate or criticisms you've seen people make towards these characters?

People definitely hate Amanda, she is annoying, she is useless, it's a damn miracle she's lived 1000 years since every time we see her fighting, if Duncan didn't come in to save her ass she'd be dead.

I've seen hate for Duncan more than you'd expect. People said he was a hypocritical goody-little-two-shoes.

I liked Tessa and even Richie. The only problem with Tessa is that Duncan can't really be tied down to a mortal. Richie was a pain sometimes, but I liken him to being the Jimmy Olsen to Duncan's Superman. They should never have made Richie immortal.
The other characters I could do without. I liked Darius but unfortunately the actor passed away.
