Did Nick Know Alyce Was Alive and A Vampire? Spoiler

At the end of the second episode we see Dr. Alyce Hunter looking down at Nick and she is a vampire. Did Nick know this and why in the world did the writers not provide some kind of closure to the character? I kept expecting her to come back at some point, possibly to rescue Nick. So disappointed that she did not reappear so that we would know what happened.

In the original Rick Springfield pilot, Alyce was definitely dead at the end.
As I recall, this was changed for the series because they initially wanted to bring her back, but after seeing the finished episode the producers didn't think the actress had sufficient chemistry with Geraint Wyn Davies, so they dropped that plan.

The producers goofed big time IMHO. This left a major plot hole that should have been filled, even if there was nothing between her and Nick when she returned to the series.

I would've liked to have seen Dr. Alyce return to the show (not necessarily to be with Nick) - I actually wrote an alternate ending short fanfic w/her in it
