Series 4: Is it happening? Or not happening?
Hope it's a yes.
shareYes and it is set on Hooligans Island!
You are entitled to my opinion, whether you want it or not!!
Exellent!
shareApparently it isn't.

I think its a good thing they arent doing another series, they both feel they cant do it anymore so why ruin a classic by trying to revive it when its already perfect, sure we would like more but look at fawlty towers, mr bean, father ted, all stopped after not many episodes and are about the best you can get, its about quality, not quantity :) another live one would be nice though :)
shareFrom what they've said it sounds more like they find it too difficult to work together anymore, rather than they can't produce a series. Rik apparently had quite a difficult personality change after his accident, at least for a time, and reading between the lines of the various things they've said they just don't enjoy working together anymore.
Give me a hedgehog and I'll show you.
In all the interviews I've read, Rik is very keen to do it. Ade is the reluctant one, and I'm not sure its about 'not enjoying' working with Rik, but just that he has moved on and wants to do different things. Which is very understandable really, when you consider they first started doing versions of these characters about 35 years ago. Thats a lo-o-o-o-o-ng time! :) I mean, would you want to still be doing the things you were doing 35 years ago, and working with the same people? I wouldn't - and it doesn't mean I have problems working with them; it's just that I prefer to do other things now.
I agree with the person who posted that its best for a comedy show to stop while people still want more (Fawlty Towers) rather than go on and on and on till even the most ardent fans are sick of it (Frasier)!

- Quint, Jaws.
There was an interview a while back where Ade openly stated that Rik's personality change since the accident made it impossible to work with him. Bearing in mind they actually started to film a new series and were getting into working together again, before suddenly pulling the plug and both walking away, I doubt it was because they didn't want to play the same old characters again, sounds more like a blow up if you read between the lines.

He makes it fairly clear that's not the case in this interview, which has a few paragraphs about the aborted revival:

It will never happen now.
It's that man again!!
