Yes, but not the internet and cellphones we know today. The internet meant hours of uploading aol or some other such software and very few companies had a website then. Also, though there were cellphones they weren't wide spread. and certainly they were not cheap enough for a typical adult, much less student to afford. That is outside of Zack Morris, who was the only student I remember having one in the late 80s early 90s LOL!!!
No company had a website. The WWW didn't exist until 1992. AOL didn't hit DOS machines until 1991.
In 1990 the internet mostly meant FTP, Usenet, UUCP and IRC. If you don't know what those technologies were then you really don't have a place in this conversation.
Before you say anything: I was a senior in high school at the time, I knew what these technologies were and I most certainly had access to them. I knew a number of my public school friends who also had access, so it was not rare. Privileged kids probably had even more access to the internet in this time frame.
You clearly don't know what you're talking about, because the OP's pouunt was that the movie could not happen with today's technology, not who knows more a about tech history. Your remarks about the WWW and AOL not existing even at the time of the movie only further proves their point. Moron.
In the book Billy actually used a modem to make contact with the outside. It used a different system than the phone lines and the terrorists only cut one of them.
it would not be Delta force if would be a joint operation between FBI(A federal agency that would have the majority of jurisdiction even in the case of terrorists) and homeland security. and even if the military were onsite it would not be Delta because Delta forces main job is overseas intelligence. it would be handled by FBI and homeland security with qualified anti terrorist units. and if any military was called in it would be Navy seals since seals handle all forms of warfare from intel to search and rescue
Hey common, there's a lot of movies that couldn't be made today. Take Home Alone... just imagine they all rush to the airport and "You need to be here 2 hours ahead of time for your international flight, no fluids, we need to check all your passports" and on and on. The movie would have pretty much ended in the driveway.
